About this deal

Whether you’re looking for a tiny, secluded cove lapped by cerulean waters or a wide stretch of sugar-white sand covered with sun worshippers, Mykonos has a beach to suit your needs. The island boasts 25 beaches, and they’re justifiably Mykonos' biggest natural attraction. Partygoers should look no further than Paradise or Super Paradise, dominated by eponymous beach clubs. Paraga and Psarou are other favorites for beach parties. Popular with families, Elia is Mykonos’ longest sweep of white sand, while Platys Gialos and Kalafatis are particularly good for water sports. Located near the chapel of Agios Ioannis, Kapari Beach offers views across to Delos and a sandy stretch free from sunbeds or beach bars. Stay for incredible sunset views. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted. The spacious and minimal guest rooms, suites and villas are individually decorated and some feature a spa bath. In-room amenities include bathrobe and slippers, flat-screen TV and Simmons bed mattresses. Some units also feature a private pool. Free WiFi is available throughout. The prize exhibit in the Archaeological Museum in Mykonos Town is a large jar or pithos from the 7th century BC, covered with comic strip-style scenes from the fall of Troy, including the oldest known depiction of the Trojan horse. Surprisingly, the jar is fitted out with aeroplane windows, each revealing a Greek warrior ready to be wheeled into Troy and wreak havoc. The vases in the museum are equally vivid, many showing creatures out of Greek mythology; there’s also a fine marble headless Hercules, and poignant funeral reliefs.

Blending Cycladic traditions with a twist of modernity, Panagiotis Menardos is considered by his peers to be one of the finest chefs in the archipelago. Others on the island strive to be the most luxurious, but Menardos opted to serve quintiessential local food when he opened his restaurant in 2019. Every recipe has its roots deep in the Mykonian and Cycladic heritage and like the narrator of an epic, every year he adds a new culinary chapter to his gastronomic menu. Try the sea bass filet in a sweet and spicy tomato sauce served with baby potatoes and a freshly baked Mediterranean bruschetta, or vacuum-cooked pork fillet with a light mushroom sauce served with a parsley root puree and a rich Naxos graviera mousse. With just one exception, all the ingredients are produced in the Cyclades from the meat to the cheese. Even the shiitake are grown just a few miles away. As Mykonos doesn't produce enough lamb to meet local demand, for the bestselling dish, cooked at low temperature for 40 minutes, it has to be sourced from off the island. It is nevertheless superb. Some come to Mykonos just to spend an afternoon at the latest generation of beach clubs, with their fabulous restaurants, shisha bars and eye-watering prices. Along with the Paradise and Super Paradise beach clubs, the best for spotting celebrities are the luxury haven Nammos on Psarou, or new age-y Scorpios and over-the-top Sant’Anna with its enormous saltwater pool, both on Paraga beach. For something quieter, try Pasaji or Hippie Fish at Agios Ioannis beach — where they filmed Shirley Valentine. The Cycladic Islands are famous for meltemi, a summer wind that provides the prime conditions for kitesurfing. It constantly blows in 20 to 35 knots at sandy Korfos Beach, at the bottom of the narrow bay 2.5km south of Mykonos Town, separated by a 300m isthmus from the calm waters of Ornos beach to the south. Kite Mykonos will supply the equipment or teach you how it’s done if you’ve never tried; the shallow waters here make it an ideal place to learn. Follow your nose around the delightful jumble of streets in the capital, Chora, otherwise known as Mykonos Town. You’ll find restaurants, cafes and tavernas with menus to suit everyone.

Within proximity of Chora in Mykonos, the awarded hotel Cavo Tagoo features an infinity pool with a 40-yard aquarium bar, and a fully equipped spa with indoor pool. Most rooms enjoy sea views. Elia has the longest beach, while around the coast is Platis Gialos, a popular resort with a good number of Mykonos hotels on the beach on Booking.com. Glass-bottomed boats departing from here give great views of local sealife.

How we choose the best restaurants in Mykonos

But many visitors prefer the months before and after high season, when most everything is open but less overheated – whether it’s the weather or the dance floors.
